Goalgeneral locomotor activity and anxiety

Principle: this test is based on the antagonism between rodent’s spontaneous exploratory behavior and their innate aversion to open and enlightened places. The open field consists of a light-exposed arena that is surrounded by a wall: spontaneously, the animal will preferentially stay near the wall instead of exploring the light-exposed central part. Its aversion for the central zone will increase with its level of anxiety.
